SIGHTSEEING IN PETRA

Petra, Jordan's most visited destination, is known as the Rose Red City because of the colour of the kingdom's rock engravings. The western world was unaware of the old Nabatean capital until 1812 when a Swiss explorer uncovered several outstanding ruins in the region.

The greatest places to observe the sunset are along the route (no. 35) from Wadi Musa to Taybeh, which is roughly a 5-10 minute drive from Wadi Musa's center. There's a little municipal park with a fantastic view of Petra — the city is literally at your feet.
