The Best Paradise Islands to visit:
Maldives
This beautiful string of coral islands in the Indian Ocean must surely qualify as an earthly paradise, and most visitors enjoy a warm welcome and a true sense of peace and tranquillity. These islands, on the other hand, are known for their turbulent history, both physically and politically, and there has been much unrest in recent years.
From an environmental standpoint, the Maldives' future is even more uncertain, and as the world's lowest country, the threat of rising sea levels presents a very real possibility that these islands will become uninhabitable in the relatively near future, and will disappear entirely within a short geological time-scale.
Where exactly are the Maldives?
The Maldives are a large group of islands located south-west of India's southern tip. These are coral islands that grew on the tops of a chain of submerged mountains known as the Chagos-Maldives-Laccadive ridge, which runs roughly north-south and straddles the equator. This is the smallest country in southern Asia in terms of land area, but it is also the most widely dispersed country in the world, with 1,192 separate islands spread across a length of 820 km and a width of 130 km.
